Bacon Egg Breakfast

Bacon and Eggs

I love bacon and eggs for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  I love toast with jelly and I really love dunking my over-easy eggs in ketchup.  So, what does this mean to someone that wants to watch calories, cholesterol, sugar, their weight?  Maybe breaking this down will help.

How many calories in one piece of bacon?  There are 50 calories in 1 strip of Bacon (Lean Meat Added). Calorie breakdown: 73% fat, 1% carbs, 26% protein.  Lean meat should of course be considered as crispy bacon.

How many calories in one egg?  On average a medium-sized egg will contain around 70 calories, an average small egg will contain around 55 calories and an average large egg around 80 calories. Most of these calories come from the yolk.  I love to break the yolk and dunk my jammed up toast in that delicious yellow runny yolk.  Yum!

Although, this is not a ton of information, you can see that when I start ordering egg whites, one crispy bacon strip, one piece of wheat toast without jam and skip the ketchup, I should feel like I ordered a pretty healthy breakfast.  Just think if I add one half-hour of walking five days per week, (well, let’s start with two days per week), and when the clock hits 4:00pm I can control myself from grabbing the bottle of wine, since, you know, it is wine time, then I could easily brag to family and friends that I am on a strict diet with a high level of exercise built in and I am on my way to live a very long life.  What do you think?
